How much Spanish will I speak after one course?

You may walk into our door not being able to put two words together, but after 14 hours of instruction, which is 7 classes, can you believe you may talk in Spanish for up to 30 minutes? We have seen it year after year and this is why our programs are so effective.

In order to achieve conversational ability in Spanish, you simply must attend class weekly, do your light homework assignments weekly (30-60 minutes estimated time to complete the assignments) and one hour of vocabulary study each week. Provided you put the time and effort in, you will be conversing with native-speakers anywhere from 10 - 30 minutes by the end of Beginner 1! Will it be perfect? Most importantly, it will be an understandable and meaningful exchange with your native speaking conversation partner, and that is the key. The goal in our classes is conversation, conversation and more conversation!

Will the teachers speak English?

All our classes are immersion, meaning all classroom activities will be conducted in the language you're learning. This is why our programs get you talking the talk right away. But don't worry if the thought of immersion makes you nervous! It's a very supportive atmosphere where we are experts at helping you to make the connections you need to between English and the target language, and where learning from your mistakes is a very useful way to progress!

Are the teachers native speakers?

Some of our teachers are native speakers, others are native English-speakers with near-native fluency. All of our business and adult course teachers are licensed language instructors in the State of Ohio and have lived in one or more countries where the target language is spoken. Not only are they proficient in the language, but the culture as well.

Are your teachers licensed?

All of our teachers for the corporate and adult programs are licensed language teachers in the State of Ohio. The teachers for our children's programs are finger-printed and given background checks, in addition to being trained by a licensed SOL teacher.

What country's Spanish do you teach?

We believe that it is more important to speak a grammatically correct language rather than a dialect native to a particular country.  Just like the types of English spoken in different regions of the US and in other countries, languages have different dialects and accents.  No one country's dialect or accent is better than another's and we teach you a variety of ways to say the same thing in different countries or regions.
